Christmas 2017: ViscoTec mainly supports organizations in the local region with Christmas donations. This involves spending money that usually used to be used for Christmas gifts to business partners. This year, the donation will exceptionally go to a national organization called DKMS (once German bone marrow donor centre). The vision of DKMS is “We delete blood cancer! We want to provide every blood cancer patient with a matching donor or help with access to treatment – around the globe.“
Although, according to DKMS, almost 8 million people have already been typed and would thus become available as stem cell donors, one in seven patients does not find a suitable donor. Every 15 minutes, a person in Germany receives the devastating diagnosis of blood cancer. Many patients are children and adolescents whose only chance of recovery is stem cell donation.
ViscoTec also wants to support the DKMS with a typing campaign for its employees in the new year 2018. The start of this action is already the Christmas donation. For this reason, ViscoTec Managing Director Georg Senftl presented a cheque for €2,000 to Sonja Garbe, who represents the DKMS as a former donor and symbolically received the cheque.
Sonja Garbe from Mühldorf made a bone marrow donation a few years ago and thus prolonged the life of a person. She herself says: “It is an indescribably good feeling to help another person in a life-threatening situation.”
