On 25 April 2019, the awards ceremony for the 14th EM Asia Innovation Awards took place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center during NEPCON China. This award recognizes products, materials, software and equipment for electronics manufacturing and contributed to the development and innovation of electronics manufacturing in Asia within 2018. ViscoTec received the award for the new metal-free dispenser in its portfolio.
SMT China Surface Mount Technology also presented the results of the 13th SMT China VA Vision Awards during NEPCON China. The metal-free RD-EC dispenser from ViscoTec was also awarded here.
Metal-free RD-EC Dispenser
Like all dispensing pumps in ViscoTec’s portfolio, this double award-winning product features a special polymer pump with sealed chamber, the so-called “endless piston principle”, due to its special rotor and stator geometry. This distinguishes the metal-free dispenser from the rest: The rotor contains no metal surface and can therefore easily process many metal-sensitive materials such as acetic acid, anaerobic adhesives, ionic liquids and sulfur and chloride in electrolytes. This makes the dispenser the perfect solution for applications involving many metal-sensitive special materials. It has therefore received two awards: With the 14th EM Asia Innovation Award and the 13th SMT China VA Vision Award.
With the continuous development and innovation of the electronics manufacturing industry, more and more materials were developed in the manufacturing process. Many of the materials cannot come into direct contact with metal, otherwise chemical reactions occur, and performance is impaired. It is important to find a manufacturing process in which these materials can still be dispensed precisely and quantitatively. There are many application scenarios for this type of special material. For example, the manufacture of power batteries in e-mobility requires the use of many special materials. Almost every electronic product uses adhesives in the production process, and this includes the dispensing of many metal-sensitive adhesives. About the EM Asia Innovation Awards
The EM Asia Innovation Awards were created in 2006 to recognize suppliers who have made outstanding contributions to the development and innovation of electronics manufacturing in Asia. All awards are based on very strict standards such as innovation, cost efficiency, speed/capacity improvement, quality improvement, ease of use, maintainability and process improvement. The award-winning products were independently selected by the jury according to the above criteria. The judges are experienced process managers and engineers in EMS and OEM and other electronics manufacturing experts.
About the SMT China VA Vision Award
The SMT China VA Vision Award was launched in 2007 by SMT China Surface Mount Technology Magazine and took place for the 13th time this year. The SMT China VA Vision Awards recognize innovative products that help reduce costs, improve product quality, increase production efficiency, improve reliability and operational safety, save energy and protect the environment. The SMT China VA Vision Awards jury consists of experts with technical backgrounds from various electronics manufacturing companies. Almost 80 jurors took part in the selection this year.
