Hot filling is in: According to a survey, after the classic mascara, lipstick comes second place in the most popular make up tools. 60.2% of all women in German-speaking countries aged 14 and over regularly use lipstick (source: statista.com). Many cosmetics manufacturers from the DACH region also aim at this market.
Plant manufacturers in the cosmetics industry, as in other industrial sectors, are given shorter and shorter production and turnaround times. Particularly when hot filling cosmetic pastes, production planners are reaching the limits of feasibility. In this case, it is due to the lipstick mass, as it has a viscosity of more than 7.5 million mPas. The lipstick masses are melted before filling into the respective cavities (silicone moulds) – usually in a heating tank at 120°C. This costs time, energy and money.
With the Hygienic dispensers from ViscoTec, the lipstick mass can be processed and dosed at 100°C. The energy input for melting the lipstick is reduced and therefore costs are minimized. The dispenser excels at handling high temperatures as well as for the dosing and filling of highly viscous products. After the heating process, the lipstick is filled directly into the mould. The suck-back function of the dispenser ensures that no liquid lipstick drips and therefore guarantees a clean filling. After a short curing time, the processing of the lipstick takes place.
All components of the dispenser (e.g. seals and elastomeric stators) are suitable for the high temperatures of the production process. The accuracy of the filling is a great advantage of the dispenser too. It ensures that the lipstick mass is dosed with a repeatability of +/- 1%. The dispenser is particularly suitable for the precise dosing of small volumes of media from medium to high viscosity and also for shear-sensitive products with solids or abrasive particles With volumes as small as 0.2ml of highly viscous products and tolerances of +/- 1%, the Hygienic Dispenser can be implemented with a high degree of process reliability.
The ViscoTec dosing systems are based on a modular range. The requirements of the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries are presented in various modules. Adapted to the requirements of the customer with regard to hygienic design, documentation, elastomer resistance, implementation and dosing or filling volume, the optimum dispenser for the respective application is put together. These configuration options allow, for example, a type that can be easily dismantled (tool-free), manually cleaned and autoclaved. Alternatively, the dispenser can also be connected to a CIP/SIP system and automatically cleaned and sterilized. This makes the Hygienic Dispenser an all-rounder that is perfectly adapted to every process.
